'The New Moon' was performed at the Whitehorse Centre from the 6th to the 14th of October 2000. 'The New Moon' opened as the biggest hit on Broadway in 1928. From the same team that created 'The Desert Song' (Sigmund Romberg - music, Oscar Hammerstein II - book and lyrics) 'The New Moon' is a love story set in the French colonies of New Orleans and the Caribbean during the French Revolution. Many songs from the score are still loved today including 'Lover, Come back to me' and 'Stout hearted men'. Of several film versions, the 1940 motion picture starring Nelson Eddy and Jeannette McDonald is best known and retains most of the story and songs from the stage hit.
