Kiss Me Kate

Cole Porter's 'Kiss Me, Kate' was performed at the Whitehorse Centre from May 31st to June 15th 2002.  'Kiss Me, Kate' belongs in the ranks of the all-time greats of Broadway Musical.  It premiered in 1948 for a 'smash-hit' run of over three years and has recently enjoyed a revival on both Broadway and London - thrilling new audiences with its marvelous music and vibrant dancing.   'Kiss Me, Kate' tells the story of a feuding couple attempting to produce a musical version of Shakespeare's play about a feuding couple, 'The taming of the Shrew'.  This show was a departure for Babirra in that it excites as much for its dancing as its plot and music - our first BIG dance show.  In director Rodney Hunter's program notes he hopes "From 'Another Op'nin, Another Show', I hope our efforts to 'Brush Up Your Shakespeare' will prove to by 'Wunderbar'!"  That it was.  Babirra's once again pulled together extremely talented production personnel , cast and crew to produce what many of Babirra's patrons described as our 'Best show ever!"
